It seems that the inspiration is everywhere if you look. Consider my last source of joy, Harry Potter. I have not yet seen the new film, only the first function, and was moved to tears. My daughter Emily six years thought this was rather amusing, as I passed the popcorn.
What I found so impressive while watching the preview of Harry Potter, is a line that could not impress many people, but I felt like he was talking about so brilliantly, and clearly, that I had to share. In the trailer, Harry is trying to rally witch and wizard another student to help him combat the newest dark enemy. Everybody is afraid. Protestando who can not. Unable to do so. And Harry, in all its glory of Hollywood said: "All the great magicians really began as nothing more than what they are now. If they can do it, why not the United States?!" (Or something very similar. Was so beaten more that I could be hallucinating.)
Meaning, all that is accomplished, illustrated, famous, famous, car, etc. .. It all started somewhere. And in most cases, which began in their quest significant obstacles. As a coach, I try to encourage clients to imagine, "What if?" What if I COULD go back to school and become a teacher. What if I do not take risks and open up my own business? What would it be to try to run a marathon? As human beings, who come from all kinds of excuses why it interesting that profess to be our greatest wish, it is impossible. I can not go back to school because I have no money. Who am I to think that it could open up my own business? Running a marathon would be too hard. My answer: student loans, which are in any case opening their own business, and so what? I realize that I am simplifying, but you get the picture. You have to begin by saying SO WHAT welcome what could be. (Someone really cool, I can not remember who said that.)
Personally, I am working on two books. Occasionally, I fall into the trap of listening to some thoughts that limit freedom like, "Who do you think YOU are to write a book?" But, you know, who am I not? I have a lot to say. And haha, I will "Practice of the Potter" and realize that all the great writers, before his first book, sat in front of a blank paper or computer screen, and understand one word at a time.
So, over the next week, try to notice when they are putting their own leaf blocks. Observe your thoughts and challenge. They are only reflections, and can choose. Ask yourself: "Who will I be without that thought?" If Harry Potter uses her magic wand to eliminate the thought, "I will never be a writer," how your day / week / year / life differently?
